Some people have a way with words

For those of you that didn't see it, I wanted to highlight this comment:

"Working at CPI was like being in an abusive marriage for 15 years; I was never good enough, and brainwashed into thinking I could not do any better. Then one day my "husband" came home and said he didn't like me anymore, and to pack my shit and get out. I did. When I run into people I've not seen in a while, they always say how great I look-like 10 years younger. That's the stress and anxiety gone from my life. So, if you love CPI so much, stick around. You'll get yours. In the end, literally."

In real life, my real marriage is effected by my Job at sears. he wants me to keep my job, but he also gets sick of me complaining about it because it sucks so bad. The pay is bad and its so deisrespectful.

he keeps telling me that if i work hard, i will move up in the company.... what he doesnt understand is that NO i wont, and nor do i want to.

every christmas is a big bone of contention between my husband and . we get so frustrated with the endless phone calls in our small amount of down time together. at the end of last years season he took to grabbing my phone and answering with "if you dont have it by now quit or call the actual manager"and hanging up. (im just the assistant but the mgr would never answer the phone)

Anonymous #3, its the same way for me. except my husband tells to just answer it already or they wont stop. And he is right. Im also only the Asst. The actual Manager screens her calls.

The actual manager is right. She shouldn't answer her phone. There are resource available to associates like tech support and the training que. Also, there should be a manager on at all times, mgr and asst should work opposite shifts.

When I left the company, I had to change my ring tone because the one I had while working at SPS seriously put me into stress/panic mode. They would call me SO much at home and most times for things that you could figure out if you used common sense or there was some serious major crisis. During the first Xmas season I worked, I ended up having only 1 day off between Thanksgiving and Xmas (a 4 week period). There was always some problem and I would end up having to work. This was before the company cracked down on overtime. I remember my DM saying, "At least you're getting great overtime." but I would have much rather had days off and kept my sanity and happiness.

apparently i was the only one who could talk through sas problems over the phone anyone else would have to be physically in front of the screen to be of any help. the DETAILED directions i left typed would go ignored bc it was faster to call me. they would hand the phone to customers. my mother had surgery and i was in the waiting room during her recovery when the phone rang and i didnt recognize the readout and thought it was family. someone gave an irate customer my cell number. so here i am holding my breath to hear about my MOTHER after surgery and a customer is screaming at me after repeated attempts to inform the customer i was in a hospital and to speak to someone there i simply hung up. i was under enough pressure. the customer kept calling everytime my VM picked up they would hang up and call back. i blocked the number and the customer complained got free stuff and i got a write up. (and it was all over the fact that they wanted to return a CD that had a non returnable sticker on it) i hate this company.

i have worked with sears for almost a year. i love the photography part of the job, but not the bull crap i have to put up with. i bust my butt all day everyday, no time to breathe it feels like. i dont agree with our jobs depending on our PRS. its not our fault if the customer does not want to spend, not many people have the money to blow on pitures in the first place. we are taught to manipulate people into spending more money just so we can keep our jobs. when the manipulation doesnt work, i get a two hour "training"(lecture) period about how bad i am at my job, and all of the ways to make myself a better person, at work and home. and i agree with the fact there are to many variables to do with photos. and the last thing i would like to mention is the call list. i dont understand how we can be expected to make a certain number of apts each week, offering anything to get them in, thus starting the whole prs trouble all over again. and i lied one more thing why send out $10 and under coupons packages if you dont want them to buy them, and dont get mad at me when they do. Solution, dont send it anymore :)

thats the point the 10 dollar coupons gets them in the door. its OUR job to OVERCOME theses coupons by taking such good photos they cant pick just one. the problem is when someone expects to spend 5 dollars thats all they are going to spend. if i didnt work here and came in for pics i may be talked into another $20 for another sheet but i would hate myself later and never come back to avoid it happening again.

Anonymous #5: we're on single coverage now, so it's impossible to have a manager on at all times. If we did, there would be no other associates. So your whole "there should be a manger on at all times" logic doesn't quite work...

When I worked in hell (CPI) they had the EAP program. They paid for 5 or 6 therapy sessions. If there was a need for further assistance, EAP would refer you to someone who would take your insurance. It was a really good program-some of you should really check it out. If they're going to make you feel crazy, they should at least help pay for counseling.
